Vision

The vision for River's Edge was inspired by the story of the Israelites crossing over the Jordan River to inherit the Promised Land, as told in the book of Joshua.

As they stepped out in faith, they saw the fulfilment of the promise of God and the start of a new era and future for their nation. It is our hope that each individual that comes to our church has the opportunity to experience faith, fulfillment and a greater future as they connect with Jesus and His church.

Three words sum up our vision for our church:

Faith: To know Jesus and be empowered to take bold steps of faith.

Fulfilment: To experience life to its fullest with God in community.

Future: To inspire each generation to live with eternity in mind

Our Pastors

Luke and Katherine Fletcher are a couple called by God to plant a church in the area of Homebush Bay / Rhodes.

Discovering this has taken a number of years of faithful service in their home church – Petersham AOG.

Together, with their four children, they are committed to seeing a community impacted and lives changed by

the good news of Jesus Christ.

Luke

Bringing a wealth of experience gained from his involvement in a small business, Luke is excited about the future and

all that God wants to accomplish in this area of Sydney along the Parramatta River.

Luke’s background as an English/History school teacher brings a relaxed teaching style to his mandate to reach

and teach people for Christ.

Having just completed his Master of Divinity at Southern Cross Bible College, Luke is looking forward to sowing into the

local community for many years to come.

Luke is a talented musician, teacher, father and husband who is passionate about seeing people built up and

functioning in the body of Christ.

Katherine

Not only is Katherine a mother, wife and qualified Graphic Designer, she has also studied at Southern Cross and is

currently working to complete her Bachelor of Theology.

Katherine longs to see true community and connection between people happen, and she is keen to take on the challenge

of pastoring a church with Luke. She has a real passion to see those who are lonely feel a sense of belonging, friendship,

care, acceptance and love.

Katherine desires to see people in Sydney come to a place of fulfilment in their life and relationships,

despite the busyness of a city lifestyle.

Luke and Katherine have a burning desire to see many come to a place of experiencing a relationship with God, and to see people empowered and walking in the fulfilment of their God appointed destiny.

Our Beliefs

River’s Edge Church is a Pentecostal church that loves the Bible and is committed to bringing people to faith in Jesus

and encouraging them to live out that faith in everyday life.

We believe and encourage the moving of the Holy Spirit in our services and the expression of His gifts through individuals.

River’s Edge Church is a member of the Australian Christian Churches. For more details click here.

We believe that the Bible is God's Word. It is accurate, authoritative and applicable to our every day lives.

We believe in one eternal God, who is the Creator of all things.

He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy.

We believe that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, as both God and man, is the only One who can reconcile us to God.

He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again to prove His victory

      and empower us for life.

We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and the 'new birth' we must repent of our sins, believe in

the Lord Jesus Christ, and submit to His will for our lives.

We believe that in order to live the holy and fruitful lives that God intends for us, we need to be baptised in water and be

filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enables us to use spiritual gifts, including speaking in tongues,

which is the initial evidence of baptism in the Holy Spirit.

We believe that God has individually equipped us so that we can successfully achieve His purpose for our lives,

which is to worship God, fulfil our role in the Church and serve the community in which we live.

We believe that God wants to heal and transform us so that we can live healthy and prosperous lives,

in order to help others more effectively.

We believe that our eternal destination of either Heaven or hell is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back again as He promised.

Our Mission

To be a vibrant, nurturing and faith-filled community, that empowers and inspires one another to connect

with Jesus and share the reality of knowing Him with others.

Our Discipleship Process

CONNECT – INSPIRE – EMPOWER – SHARE

We long to see people grow and develop in their relationship with the Lord as we seek to become authentic followers

of Him. At River’s Edge Church we see four distinct stages to help facilitate this:

Connect:  People need to first connect with Jesus and connect with other believers in the church.

Inspire:     Through corporate worship services and connect groups, members of River’s Edge will be inspired in

                  their walk with God.

Empower: Believers will be encouraged to use their gifts and talents, with the Spirit’s enabling, for the service of the

                  kingdom of God.

Share:       The love of Jesus should compel us to share and demonstrate our faith to each other and the world.

Our History

Luke and Katherine Fletcher started River’s Edge, as a daughter church of Petersham Assembly of God,

in February 2009.

While serving at Petersham AOG, they were inspired by Pastor Barry Saar’s vision to plant many churches and thus

see the kingdom of God expand. The vision and challenge was to plant local, autonomous churches

that would give people the opportunity to become involved in their local church.

Believers would be challenged to become disciples from salvation, through baptism and continue following Christ

and become fully functioning members of the church, operating in their God given destiny and multiplying believers.
